Holiday Office Scavenger Hunt: A Ready-to-Run 20-Minute Plan
A ready-to-run holiday office scavenger hunt: eight tasks, answers, scoring and remote adaptations. Use paper or a free browser hunt.
This holiday office scavenger hunt is designed for a twenty-minute activity in one shared workspace. It uses everyday objects, needs no purchases and can also run with remote teams. The theme is optional: the tasks do not require anyone to celebrate a particular holiday.
Organizer setup: five minutes
Divide the group into pairs or small teams, name an organizer and choose a common finish time. Give teams ten minutes to complete the tasks, five minutes to show results and five minutes to discuss their favorite finds. Use the list on paper, or add it to a free browser hunt.
Choose areas where people may freely enter. Exclude desks in use, personal belongings and private documents. Participants can photograph an object or describe it; nobody needs to appear in a picture. For remote play, use objects in the same room as the player rather than asking them to leave home.
Eight ready-to-use challenges
- Something reusable: find an object that replaces a disposable one. Accept mugs, containers or refillable bottles.
- A repeating pattern: photograph a pattern on an everyday object. Avoid screens and documents.
- A winter color: find something blue, white or green. Any ordinary object counts.
- A helpful tool: name an object that makes a common task easier. Explain the task in one sentence.
- A tiny detail: photograph a close-up and let another team guess the object.
- A shared recommendation: suggest one short activity the team could try together. No purchase required.
- Five-letter word: solve this clue: I have pages and a spine; my plural has five letters. Organizer answer: BOOKS.
- A team connection: find a hobby or interest that at least two teammates share. Share only information they choose to discuss.
Scoring and finish
Award one point per completed challenge, for a maximum of eight. Give the close-up point for a suitable photo whether or not the other team guesses it. Accept equivalent answers for the reusable object and helpful tool. Break a tie by sharing the most useful team recommendation; the organizer can also declare joint winners.
Check submissions at the finish and invite each team to explain one find. Do not award points for speed alone: the activity should work for people who prefer to stay seated or complete tasks verbally. For browser play, choose photo or text tasks, test approval settings and share the join link before starting.
Make it fit your event
For a shorter meeting, use the first four challenges. For a remote call, announce the tasks together and give players time to return. For a seasonal party, let teams decorate their answers with an optional theme while keeping the scoring identical.
